Monetary value of the French vineyard in 2006
The Service Central des Enquêtes et Études Statistiques (SCEES: national statistics office) has released a report on the value per hectare for AOC vineyards in 2006. The current value is 76,580 per ha, which represents an increase of 53% in comparison with 1998.
In Champagne, the value increased by 7.7% in 2006 – a lesser increase than in 2005 (+9.7%). However, for other vineyards the average value decreased by 2.6% - a lesser decrease than in 2005 (-3.9%), due to the positive results on exports.
However, trends vary from one region to another: Burgundy, Jura and part of Loire Valley and Provence showed an increase, whilst Alsace, Beaujolais, Languedoc and the South-West remained stable compared to the previous year. In Bordeaux and Rhône, the price per hectare decreased but less than in the previous year.
